We supply healthy meals to families in need and at the same time, we also seek to help the people we serve build a path to a brighter, food-secure future, educating them about healthy food choices and eating habits so they can maximize their own food purchases.
Our communities’ food challenges
Meals for Mankind serves the one in six people struggling with hunger in Alabama. Hunger touches every community in the U.S., including our own. Children, seniors, and veterans are especially challenged.
While our local economy has a low unemployment rate, many people are still struggling to get by because of underemployment, stagnant wages and the rising costs of living.
Plus many of our working neighbors face countless situations that can result in food insecurity and hunger. Reduced work hours, unexpected car maintenance or an accident can suddenly force a family to choose between buying food and paying bills.
Although the challenges are huge, there is a new hope. Meals For Mankind provides an innovative program that provides nourishing food to people in need. When you support Meals For Mankind – through your monetary gift or quality surplus donation – you are helping our network deliver meals directly to those in need.
